The Dairyland Dolls fought hard in their home city against the Gotham All Stars. It was a bout where the penalty bench stayed nice and toasty for most of the game as both teams were often rolling at half strength. In the end the score was 138-70. The Dolls will take on Grand Raggidy at 1:15 p.m. tomorrow and Gotham will go on to play either Detroit or Philly (depending on who wins the 8 a.m. game). The Dolls are now 2-1 in their record against Gotham. I've updated the schedule based on this most recent game.

Madison's Dairyland Dolls have topped the Minnesota Roller Girls with a score of 143-67. It was a slow moving bout with few major hits. It was explained to me earlier that because they are playing on a brand new track it is very slippery. As the weekend progresses scuff marks from the skates will build up on the track allowing for more traction and faster speeds. That will help the Dolls as the prepare to return at 6:30 p.m. to face down the Gotham Girls All Stars. Minnesota also returns for a loser bout facing off against either Charm City or Cincinnati.

Can the number eight seed Dairyland Dolls beat the number one seed Gotham Girls? Possibly.

A handful of football players started a brawl in public, punched a cop, then got pepper sprayed and tried to evade the law.

During the past week we've been hosting interviews with the captains of some of the roller derby teams that will be playing during the Wisconsin Flat Track Derby Association's Eastern Tourneys tomorrow through Sunday. But when, you may ask, are they all facing off? With Derby in Dairyland just a day away, Victoria, a.k.a. Elle Machete, has been interviewing Captains from teams that will be descending upon Madison. She now heads out to the Big Apple for an interview with Gotham City All Stars Captain Donna Matrix.

How long have you been skating with your league, playing with the All-Stars and captaining?

I've been a Gotham Girl since 2005. Last year I was the co-captain of GGRD's All-Star team and this year I'm the captain.

There are a great many interesting and unique film opportunities throughout Madison in the coming week. Including a two night showing of one of the highest grossing Japanese films in 2006, the return of a classic 80s comedy, moody paranoia from the 70s, and a look at the global water crisis. Below I take a look at Madison film from big budget to minuscule.

I was recently introduced to the manga/anime called Death Note at this year's Geek.Kon on the University of Wisconsin campus. The story, created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata, follows Light Yagami who finds a journal that he discovers kills anyone whose name he writes within the pages. He uses the "Death Note" to try and rid the world of crime and corruption. Soon the Spider-Man maxim of "With great power comes great responsibility" comes into play as Light begins using the book to not just kill criminals and the corrupt, but also anyone who gets in the way of him cleansing the world. Enter the genius and eccentric detective only known as "L" who makes it his mission to stop Light. The two are equally cunning so they quickly become rivals.

How long have you been skating with Charm City, playing with the All-Stars and captaining?

I have been with CCRG since 060406. I have been with the allstars since I think last Feb or March...I played 1 game of their first season and I have been a Captain since November last year.
